How to Replace a Fluid Master

1. Remove the lid to the toilet and put it in a safe place.

2. Shut-off the water supply to the toilet.(The shut-off valve is near the floor on the left hand side.)

3. Drain the toilet tank by flushing the toilet. Use a rag to sponge out the remaining water.

4. Using a pair of "channel lock" pliers, or a crescent wrench, unscrew the nut of the supply tubing where it's attached at the bottom of the tank. It is attached to the threaded-bottom of the Fluid Master. Leave the supply tubing attached to the shut-off valve.

5. After you have removed the supply nut, (in #4, above) you will see another nut and washer on the bottom of the tank that secures the Fluid Master to the tank. Remove this nut and washer.

Look at the way the rubber washer and nut is installed. You will be putting it back on the new Fluid Master, the same way.

6. Remove the old Fluid Master from inside the tank. Look at how it was installed, and how the overflow tube is installed. Reinstall the new one the same way. Secure the nut and washers to the bottom of the Fluid Master at the bottom of the tank, the same way you removed them.Don't forget to hook the overflow tube into the overflow pipe.

7. Re-connect your supply tubing. And turn the water back on. Check for leaks. You may have to tighten the nuts.

The water in the tank should be approximately 1 inch below the overflow pipe.

To Adjust the Fluid Master valve:

There is an adjustment on the Fluid Master. At the float ball there is a v-clip on a rod. Squeeze the v-clip and you will be able to move the float down the rod. This will adjust it so the valve shuts the water off sooner.
