The toilet keeps running.

If your toilet keeps running, I suggest you tie it down. That's a joke. If you hear water running continuously in the toilet it could be a couple of things.

First, check to see if the bowl fill tube is flowing into the overflow tube. Sometimes the tube sprays back into the tank, instead of down the fill tube.

Toilet Tank

If your toilet doesn't have a float ball, you probably have a Fluid Master valve instead of a ballcock valve

The overflow tube goes directly to the toilet bowl. If the water level in your toilet tank should get too high, the water will flow down the overflow tube to the bowl, rather than overflowing from the tank and flooding your bathroom.

The fill tube sends water down the overflow tube after flushing. It sends just enough water to fill the p-trap at the base of your toilet. (P-traps when filled with water keep sewer gases from entering your house.)

The other problem that could cause your water to run, is a worn flapper. See I have to jiggle the handle to make it stop running.
