Services and Prices
Here's how it works:
COPY
EDITING: I'll check for spelling, grammar, and structural errors in
your letter, report, newsletter, article, thesis, short story, or
novel. I'll format to appropriate use: page size, margin size, headers,
footers, fonts, colors, et cetera.
Proofreading is not the same
as copy editing. Proofreading is what you do before sending your
writing to me to copy edit. The more mistakes you are able to correct
prior to my review, the lower your costs will be.
When editing,
I prefer to use the Tracking Feature in MS Word. I'll teach you how to
use it if you don't already know. Or I can edit with a red pen on a
hard copy of your work and write my comments in the margins or on a
separate page. You can revise your copy from my corrections or have me
revise and retype. Always double space your typing to make editing
easier. We can change the spacing when the editing is completed.
PRICES
for copy editing are between $0 .01 - $0.05 per word. As an
introduction, I'll edit up to 600 words (about three double-spaced
pages) of your work at no cost. I'll explain my edits with comments, if
necessary, and tell you how much this would have cost. Experienced
writers are likely to pay one or two cents per word.
RESEARCH: Maybe you want me to check your facts. I'll do the research and documentation.
PRESS
RELEASE: Perhaps you have an upcoming event, and you want to submit a
press release to the local newspaper. I'll write it for you, or you can
use my free template to write it yourself.
WRITING: Do you want me to write something for you, a letter, a legal appeal, or a report? Contact me for a quote.
NONFICTION AND TECHNICAL WRITING: You need to inform or educate your
employees, customers, or vendors about a special process or procedure.
I'll write what you know and need others to know. Look through my
"how-to" articles and see if my style is what you want.
MEMOIR OR FICTION: Do you have a story to tell? I can write it for you. I expect credit for ghostwriting.
REWRITING: I'll help you revise, rewrite, and copy edit using your
style and voice. I'll verify your research and format your manuscript
for publication. Contact me for a quote.
